About Me

Miranda Michalowski is an award-winning writer for the page, stage and screen, who lives on unceded Wangal land. She writes queer and feminist stories, often with a darkly comedic edge.

In 2021, she participated in the ATYP National Studio. Her coming-of-age play, Young Bodies/Somebody’s, debuted at Flight Path Theatre in 2022 and received publication from Playlab.

Miranda’s second play, Saturday Girls, a queer high school dramedy, was shortlisted for the 2022 Rodney Seaborn Playwright’s Award and debuted at Belvoir Downstairs in 2023 (also published by Playlab).

In 2024, Miranda was selected for the ATYP Fresh Ink program. She was also selected for the Hayes 2-Day Musical Challenge, where she co-wrote a short original musical alongside Daniel Cullen, The Soggy Swamp Chronicles, which was presented for the Festival of New Work.

Her dark comedy monologue, Macaroni and Dead Things won the 2024 Silver Gull Play Award and was long-listed for the Theatre503 International Playwriting Award.

Miranda was recently named the Young Writer Scholarship Winner for the WritingNSW Year of the Novel 2026 Mentorship. She was also selected for the esteemed AWG First Break program for emerging TV writers.

Miranda is currently studying an MFA in Dramatic Writing at NIDA.
